Gum

SweetWorks manufactures several types of gum through our Oak Leaf and Bubble King brands. We offer single wrapped gum, gumballs, in bulk, boxed, peg bags and tubs.

The Manufacturing Process
The gum manufacturing process begins by creating gum base from natural rubber and rosin.  The gum base is placed in a large vessel and mixed with softeners, sweeteners, flavorings and colorings according to formulation requirements.  

The blended gum, which looks much like bread dough, is either passed through rollers and pressed into a sheet (in the case of chicle gum) or extruded through dies into a rope-like form (in the case of chunk or ball gum) and cut or formed to the appropriate shape and size.  The gum is then moved into a conditioning room where it is subjected to controlled temperature and humidity.  The ball gum and chicle gum that is to be coated is processed through panning rooms where liquid coatings of sugar, flavors, colors and high-gloss finishes are applied to the gum. Many of the gumballs are elaborate creations featuring unique shapes, multi-colored layering and coatings, and surface texturing and printing.
